GEORGE LOUKISSAS - MYTHOS
Release date: February 24, 2024
Review by: Angels PR

On February 24th, George Loukissas released his third full-length work, entitled “Mythos”. Consisting of 10 songs and with the hefty, and brave, span of 55 minutes “Mythos” comes with a simple, yet undoubtedly inspired, concept of legendary tales.
From ancient Greece to Britain and from there to Mesopotamia, China, and Japan, Loukissas travels through the ages, bringing tales of folklore and legend. As the title already somehow reveals, “Mythos” is dedicated to heroes, characters, and creatures of our collective, global folklore.
Opening with a grand, orchestral intro that sets the absolute vibe for the record, “Mythos” comes in hot with the song “Phoenix” that officially, though second, begins the album. From the first notes we get that Loukissas is set to create a musical work that can support the most epic of narratives, so the artistic direction is turned towards an Epic/Heavy metal path. Still, “Phoenix” is one of those slight exceptions in the record, in which we can find some progressive influences blending with the epic element.
With a marching feel, a punchy bass that adds depth and robustness, and epic riffs as epic goes, the song “Bellerophon” is the cornerstone of the record. By the third track, Loukissas has completed his musical introduction, has set the atmosphere and the tone, and the record from there on just drifts through the epic tales of history, with songs like “Excalibur”, “Gilgamesh” with the oriental influences, “Sekhmet” with the distinct contemporary epic metal influences, and “Sun Wukong”. Particularly, the last one has one of the simplest choruses in the record. Still manages to be the catchiest, most memorable, and hooking one, forcing you to sing along with all the might of your lungs.
Before the record sums up again in ancient Greece with the tragic tale of Medusa, Loukissas pays a tribute to the legends of “Valkyries”, in a song that carries both the groove and heaviness of bands like the Grand Magus, as well as the elegant yet insanely powerful Viking atmosphere of Bathory in its chorus.
Concluding, “Mythos” is a heavy metal release full of epic tales of heroes, monsters, and gods. So, if this is not reason enough to listen to the Loukissas’ new record, I don’t know what is. Highly recommended, the “Mythos” is an album that deserves your attention.

ELECTRO CHARGED - REIGN OF DECEPTION
Release date: February 16, 2024

Review by: Angels PR

Electro Charged's debut album, "Reign of Deception," is a relentless onslaught of raw energy, a fiery first release that is ready and prepared to take the scene by storm. Released on February 16th, this powerhouse of an album showcases the band's formidable talent and sets a high standard, no doubt, for their future endeavors.
From the moment the opening track, "Servants and Kings," kicks in, listeners are plunged into a sonic whirlwind of thrash-infused mayhem. The relentless barrage of thunderous drums, blistering guitar riffs, and searing vocals immediately grabs attention, and keeps the listener hooked. Bob Katsionis's production skills ensure that every element of the sound is meticulously crafted, resulting in a rich and thunderous sound, sharp-edged and with a solid body, as a proper thrash work should be.
While their thrash background is shown with influences by bands such as Metallica, Slayer and Testament being palpable throughout the album, Electro Charged brings their unique flavor to the table. Tracks like "Circle of Life" and "Release the Hounds" pay homage to the genre's roots while injecting a fresh sense into the genre, with the first having a relatively slower pace, supported by a crushing groove. Similarly, the “Release the Hounds”, blends the thrash with the gnarling- fitting- doom-infused riffs, in what undoubtedly is one of the best tracks in the album.
What truly sets "Reign of Deception" apart, however, is its ability to seamlessly blend aggression with a heavier elegance. Their songs are not just explosive, but they feature a technicality that does not go unnoticed. Songs like "Lord of Sickness" and "Into The Pits of Hell" showcase the band's versatility, giving off an epic feel that supports the riffs’ thrash aggression.
The track, "Tears of a Cloud”, serves as a brief intermission from the ongoing onslaught, offering a respite from the album's relentless intensity while showcasing the band's musical prowess. With a distinct melodic inclination and a melancholic feeling, the “Tears of a Cloud” serves as the album’s heavy ballad that we all love to find in such releases.
In conclusion, "Reign of Deception" is a killer work. With its explosive energy, masterful musicianship, and undeniable passion, Electro Charged has crafted an album that is sure to leave a lasting impression on listeners. This is a debut that demands attention and establishes Electro Charged as a force to be reckoned with in the metal world.

AARON KUSTERER - A LITTLE LOUDER
Review by: Angels PR

Producer and musician, Aaron Kusterer evidently and as is proven by the EP in review,
masters the guitar’s very essence, as its strings lay the foundation of his melodic messages.
With his blistering guitar riffs, and his vibrant rock energy Aaron delivers a 4-songs EP
that is an absolute delight to listen to.
In the “A Little Louder”, Aaron’s guitar is in the spotlight and rightfully so since it produces
and carries this vibrant, almost party-like energy that defines this particular EP.
Launching into action with the song “Only Be Me”, we are instantly hailed by an undiluted
rock ‘n’ roll sound full of electrifying energy that reminded me of artists and guitarists
like Richie Kotzen.
A foundation has been laid by the ‘80s influences that seem to play a key role
in the album’s progress. With “Learning to Feel”, Aaron offers an absolutely catchy ‘80s
inspired hard rock song, that nonetheless manages to cut through and sound up to date.
In a similar tone but on the ballad side is the song “Your Road”, a pretty
straightforward bluesy, rock track with smooth melodic lines and a chorus that would
made bands like the Journey really proud.
The “A Little Louder” comes full circle with the song “Leaves”, closing in the same vibrant,
feel-good manner that greeted us in the beginning.
Aaron delivers an exciting EP that you absolutely need to listen to it.

DEATHROLL - JAPANESE EXTREME METAL ART
Review by: Angels PR

From the ominous opening notes of a melodic, operatic intro resonating with the crackle of a gramophone, Deathroll's "Japanese Extreme Metal Art" plunges listeners into a realm of unyielding darkness and unparalleled intensity. In a compact and fierce collection of six tracks spanning nearly 30 minutes, this album is an unrelenting sonic journey through the grim corridors of extreme metal.
The album's inaugural track sets a haunting atmosphere, weaving an enigmatic tapestry of foreboding darkness that serves as a prelude to the raw and unforgiving soundscape that follows. "The Grey Life" emerges with a visceral force, delivering a cacophony of vile and filthy black metal that draws inspiration from the raw essence of '90s metal, complete with eerie melodies that cut through the chaotic aura, evoking comparisons to the haunting vibe of Satyricon.
As the album progresses, Deathroll continues to wield their sonic arsenal with fearsome aggression. "Lost In Confusion" and "False Images of Isolation and Depravity" storm in with a relentless fury reminiscent of the early days of the second wave of black metal. These tracks are characterized by razor-edged, chaotic riffs that pierce through the listener's senses, leaving an indelible mark of primal aggression.
Venturing into different territories, "The Torture of Lying" introduces a shift in tempo and approach, infusing a heavier metal influence that embraces a more melodic trajectory. This divergence showcases Deathroll's versatility, navigating through mid-tempo rhythms while still retaining the album's ominous undertones.
Closing the sonic odyssey, "The Lion’s Den" maintains the melodic path, offering an atmospheric conclusion to the album. With its haunting melodies and mid-tempo allure, this final track encapsulates the album's journey, leaving a lasting impression on the listener.
"Japanese Extreme Metal Art" is an unapologetically vile and intense offering that showcases Deathroll's adeptness at channeling the raw essence of black metal while exploring diverse sonic landscapes within the genre. With its fusion of relentless aggression, eerie melodies, and atmospheric touches, this album stands as a testament to the band's prowess in delivering a captivating and immersive experience for enthusiasts of extreme metal.

METHEDRAS - HUMAN DECEPTION
Release date: JUNE 16, 2023
Self release
Review by: Angels PR

Five years after their latest release, Methedras make their thunderous return
with their sixth full-length release, titled “Human Deception”.
While this album has been my introduction to Methedras and I cannot confirm
if this is their finest work so far or not, the “Human Deception” is an album that
leaves the best first impressions. Considering that first impressions matter and,
honestly, they matter quite a lot, I can say with confidence that Methedras has
released an excellent work, one capable of creating new fans of the band.
So, let’s get right into the matter at hand. Methedras deliver a straightforward
and precise sound; a sonic experience built mainly upon a massive death metal
basis that carries the weight of influences, strengthened further by sharp-edged
thrash influences that add that destructive, enhanced punk explosion that the
genre carries in its core. The “Human Deception” in its 40-minute span strikes
like thunder, grabbing the listeners by their throat and dragging them into an
aggressive, extreme metal experience.
And yet, Methedras sneak in a multitude of influences that tend to lead each
track towards different musical paths, adding even more texture to their
aggressive sound. Songs like “Know It All” and “Envy Society” come with
some progressive ideas that give a more strictly technical edge to the songs,
complementing the massive death metal groove that drives the riffs forward.
Melody, while not always placed in the foreground, finds its way through in the
“Human Deception”, diverting the band’s sonic tapestry towards Melodic death metal,
with songs like “Psychotic” and the “Layers of Grief”, with the first one reminding
slightly of the early In Flames years.
But I also spoke of thrash metal influences. They can be found reigning in the
foreground of tracks like the explosive “Injected Thoughts” which blends the
European death metal sound with the classic Bay Area thrash metal sound,
making it a common denominator for a more in-your-face sound, which is shared
by other tracks like the “A New Deal” and the “Enraged”.
In conclusion, I will just say that you need to check this record out. It is not just
a fine release, but an exhilarating and aggressive extreme metal work that you need to listen to.

BLACK REUSS - ARRIVAL
Release date: December 1, 2023
Self release
Review by: Angels PR

In the realm of musical odysseys, Black Reuss' third chapter, "Arrival,"
serves as a beacon of artistic prowess. Building on the foundations laid by its predecessors,
particularly the captivating "Journey," this album stands as a testament to the artist's evolution and musical maturity.
"Arrival" is a paradoxical symphony, where themes of luminosity are cloaked in the artist's signature shadowy veil.
The album's lyrical narrative radiates optimism, fostering a sense of hope amidst life's tribulations.
However, Black Reuss' musical tapestry remains steeped in the hauntingly
beautiful ambiance of doom-infused gothic melodies.
The opening track, "Evolution," sets the stage for an immersive experience,
signaling a more focused and refined sonic direction.
Embracing the weighty resonance of doom metal, interwoven with the graceful dark notes
of gothic aesthetic, the album strikes a delicate balance between raw, gnarling riffs and ethereal melodic elements.
Tracks such as "Ego" and "Crystal Clear" epitomize the album's masterful fusion of genres,
seamlessly blending the heaviness of doom metal with the elegance of gothic rock.
These compositions are a testament to Black Reuss' ability to craft a cohesive yet diverse sonic landscape.
"Arrival" is not bound by singular influences; it dares to traverse diverse musical territories.
From the industrial undertones of "Grounded" to the mesmerizing synth wave and electronic nuances in "Regression,"
each track adds a layer of depth and complexity to the album's narrative.
One of the album's standout moments is the enchanting vocal duet with Anna Murphy in "Soul Awakening."
This track serves as an anthem within the gothic rock realm, leaving an indelible mark on the listener's soul.
In summary, "Arrival" perpetuates Black Reuss's legacy of excellence.
With its meticulously crafted blend of gothic and doom elements, the album is an
invitation to delve into a world where melody meets darkness.
It is a testament to the artist's artistic vision and musicianship, offering a captivating
journey that resonates with both beauty and depth.
"Arrival" stands as a commendable addition to Black Reuss's discography,
appealing to those seeking a transformative musical experience.

LAZY MANS'S LOAD - SAINTS FULL OF SIN
Release date: October 27, 2023
Vinylstore
Review by: Angels PR

The sophomore work by Lazy Man’s Load, “Saints Full Of Sin”,
has arrived two years after the release of their debut, “All Hat No Cattle”.
The Greeks unleash once more a hellish sound that is both original and familiar,
an album that delivers fiery riffs and an incredible listening experience that under
no circumstances should be missed.
I thought of writing another paragraph on more vague descriptions,
like an introduction before I cut to the chase,
but I decided otherwise. Lazy Man’s Load's second work is an album that
cuts straight to the point after all.
So, let’s dive right in. Opening with the “Crimson Prayer”,
Lazy Man’s Load strikes a powerful musical punch to the audience,
introducing the listeners to their sound.
With mid-tempo riffs that weigh a tone, the band blends the heavy rock groove and sound,
with heavy metal influences creating a robust and explosive blend that feels
like hitting headfirst on a brick wall.
The epic hints of the heavy metal come together and fit with the heavy rock groove and aggression,
giving an epic feel to the songs.
And that’s it, a genius mix, aggressive, groovy, and powerful that brings together
into a perfect combination the best ideas of heavy rock and heavy metal.
Songs like my personal favorite, “Prime Evil”, the “Saints Full of Sin”
or the incredibly heavy groovy “Fed to the Shrine” are
simply great and the epitome of the Lazy Man’s Load sound that I am now obsessed with.
One song that somehow breaks the pattern, but remains in theme is “Abfall”.
Defined by a slower pace,
the album’s fourth track comes with a distinct epic tone and an
ominous atmosphere that is brought forth by its doom-inspired profile.
While not exactly epic doom, the “Abfall” is a nice mix of heavy metal and
doom metal ideas and influences that add another layer of heaviness overall.
There is not much more to say. Lazy Man’s Load has unleashed a great
album on the scene, a record defined by fresh, exciting ideas and well-polished,
clean, and at the same time distorted and heavy production that does wonders for their compositions.
So, if you were looking for a great album to listen to look no further,
the “Saints Full of Sin” should be your choice.

JEHOVAH ON DEATH - HEART OF GUILT

Review by: Angels PR

Without a speck of doubt, Jehovah on Death has probably released one of the best occult rock works that I had the pleasure of listening to lately.
The “Heart of Guilt” is the band’s newest and first EP, consisting of 5 songs that deliver an exceptional occult rock experience.
Opening with the instrumental “Lo, Behold”, an ominous song with a marching feel that sounds like an eerie funeral march,
the band sets the tone of the record and offers a glimpse of their sound.
As the album progresses we listen to the second song, “Heart of Guilt”, with the Jehovah on Death diving deep into that beloved ‘70s flavoring of the occult rock sound.
The psychedelic undertones in this particular one brought to mind bands like the Jess and The Ancient Ones.
Third is my personal favorite, “Let Me Die (And Die of Love)”, which also happens to be the most vibrant and uplifting one.
Continuing with the ‘70s influences and the beautiful melodic lines, Jehovah on Death presents an exciting and absolutely fun track that will be a great asset to their live performances.
Just before the album’s end comes “Wherein Converge Sad Destinations”, a melodic and a bit more psychedelic track that adds further to the ‘70s vibe. Finally,
the album sums up with the song “Deathwish”, with a seemingly The Devil’s Blood-inspired sound, lined with a more contemporary twist.
The melodic lines and the ‘70s licks and influences are still there, yet the band blends a modern tone into the mix.
As for this review’s conclusion, I highly recommend and I will even urge you to listen to the Jehovah on Death’s newest release since it is a work that deserves your listening time.

DARK SKY - SIGNS OF THE TIME
Release date: 2023
Megalopolis Records

Review by: Angels PR

Dark Sky's latest album, "Signs of the Time" takes us on a captivating journey through
music eras long gone offering a delightful revival with a contemporary flair.
It's an album that manages to strike a chord with both loyal fans of the band and those
new to their sound, delivering infectious melodies, powerful riffs, and compelling vocals.
The album opens with "Trail to Glory," a brief but enchanting orchestral intro that provides
a tantalizing glimpse of the epic musical adventure to follow.
Seamlessly transitioning into "Heroes on Ice," the album kicks off with an excellent and exciting track.
The melodic keyboard lines, reminiscent of the Europower sound,
draw immediate parallels to bands like Stratovarius, setting the tone for this sonic adventure.
"Signs of the Time" is a dynamic exploration of various musical styles, showcasing the band's versatility.
It takes you on a rollercoaster ride from epic power metal anthems like the titular track "Signs of the Time"
to infectious party anthems like "Zombies" to the glam-inspired, rock ‘n’ roll coated "St. Tropez."
One standout track is "Forgiveness," a clear homage to the '80s era. It seamlessly blends hard rock and heavy metal influences,
offering a fast-paced tempo and an irresistibly catchy chorus that feels tailor-made for the band's live performances.
It promises an electrifying experience for concert-goers and showcases the band's ability
to capture the essence of that era while adding their unique contemporary touch.
No '80s-influenced record would be complete without a poignant ballad, and
"Signs of the Time" delivers this in the form of "It's Not the End."
This track is not only heartwarming but also features a beautiful bluesy/rock guitar solo,
adding a layer of depth and emotion to the album.
A notable surprise on the tracklist is Dark Sky's cover of Sandra's "In The Heat of the Night."
The band's interpretation infuses this classic '80s hit with a heavier twist,
injecting newfound power and energy that harmonizes perfectly with the song's core,
providing a fresh perspective on a beloved classic.
In conclusion, "Signs of the Time" is a highly enjoyable album that successfully marries
'80s nostalgia with a fresh and contemporary sound.
Dark Sky delivers an unmissable listening experience for fans of rock, metal, and power metal.
It's a testament to the band's dedication to their craft and their ability to bridge the gap between
past and present in a way that truly resonates with their audience.

DRAMA NOIR - NIGHTFALL UPON THE ASYLUM
Release date: 2023
Floga Records

Review by: Angels PR

Drama Noir is a symphonic blackened death metal band from Greece, formed in 2017 by Mephisto (Paul Papathanasiou) and already have under their belt two full-length albums “Princess-Airam”, (debut album), “A Necromancy Lore” and a Split EP with Morgenröthe. After two years of absence from the music scene, due to the coronavirus, the band from Corinth released on May 3rd their new album entitled “Nightmare Upon the Asylum” through Floga Records. The mixing/mastering of the album has been undertaken by Psychon (Septicflesh) at SoundAbuse Productions and the album’s artwork and layout were designed by Jon Toussas (Graphic No Jutsu), providing an insight into the horror stories that are been narrated throughout the entire album. The album features nine tracks, including the singles “Risen to Avenge”, “The Quest of the Unknown Kabbath” and “Nightmare Upon the Asylum” the titular song of the album.

From the “Intro,” one can feel the menacing and nightmarish atmosphere of the album provided by the combination of the orchestral parts and the violent blast beats.
With the next song, we make our first encounter with pure evil at “284 Green Street Avenue” the famed Enfield haunting. A song with fluctuations in rhythm, fast-paced, aggressive with melodic and brutal vocals at the beginning and towards the end becomes slow, infernal, that you can feel the pain, the agony from the cries of the damned calling for help.
“Risen To Avenge "was the first single of the album. Commercial and atmospheric with influences from the masters of ambient Black Metal Cradle of Filth that are quite evident both in the guitar riffs and the orchestral parts.
“Vultu Tenebrarum” is a short song but also the most theatrical of the album. It’s a song built around the deep, dark voice of “Tenevris”. It is a slower-paced song, compared to the previous ones, with hard and catchy riffs that boost the vocals meanwhile the atmospheric keyboards remain in the background creating a hellish ambience.
“Blood Wedding" is a song that can be described with only one word and that is aggression. Full of energy, provided by the thundering rhythm of the drums, heavy riffs, and a formidable frantic solo.
“Shepherd of the Lost” is a very interesting song about the god of death Anubis, where demonic wishers, easter melodies, and atmospheric influences from the Greek Symphonic Black Metalers Septic Flesh prevail.
“The Quest of the Unknown Kaddath” is a song inspired by the novel “
Quest of Unknown Kadath” written by the American writer H. P. Lovecraft. A dark song with apocalyptic melodies on the keyboards and hard short-tempo guitar riffs that create a nightmare-like ambient.
“The Ghost Ship” is shorter than the other songs. It's a song for pure headbanging, with blasting drums and a thick bass sound.

The final chapter of this journey into darkness and despair comes with the titular song of the album “Nightfall Upon the Asylum”. It's a six-minute-long track with influences from the masters of misanthropic Black Metal Dimmu Borgir at the guitar riffs, atmospheric keyboards, and parts of the orchestra followed by a chaotic solo.

Drama Noir has created an exceptional album, pleasant to the ear, lacks weak spots, and its cohesive. Every song is unique and well-written and fits together perfectly on the album. “Nightfall Upon The Asylum”, is their most atmospheric and dark album, and in my opinion is one of the best albums of the year in the symphonic Blackened Death Metal genre.

Reversed - Diana
Release date: 2023
Self release

Review by: Angels PR

Reversed, an Athens-based Greek band has recently unveiled their debut EP titled "Diana."
Within the confines of just three tracks, Reversed masterfully showcases their signature sound,
a captivating blend of heavy/hard rock infused with creative nuances.
The EP opens with the eponymous track "Diana,"
a composition that exudes a sense of tranquillity and poise,
akin to a heavy rock ballad. Emotionally charged and featuring distinctive melodic lines,
"Diana" skilfully plays with contrasts,
oscillating between melodic interludes and explosive bursts enriched
with grunge elements and intense hard rock vibes.
The other two tracks, "Reversed" and "Feel the Knife," maintain a consistent heavy/hard rock style.
They pack a punch, driven by prominent bass lines that play a pivotal role in shaping the sonic landscape.
The drums contribute to the shaping of this explosive, groovy heavy rock sound, while the hard rock riffs,
laced with groove and power, stand at the heart of Reversed's sound in the EP "Diana."
The EP benefits from its refined production, finding a perfect equilibrium between a polished, smooth,
and clear sound and a touch of rawness and distortion that is essential for a proper heavy/hard rock record.
Overall, Reversed's EP is a praiseworthy and exciting new release,
showcasing a promising band with a great future ahead.

Hellpass - Gates Of War
Release date: February, 2023
Self release

Review by: Angels PR

After a short intro of thrash-influenced heavy metal,
the “Alter Nation” kicks in and Hellpass unleashes their powerful heavy metal.
Inspired by the U.S. school of sound and with epic doom influences,
“Alter Nation” offers a great introduction to the band’s sound,
revealing their epic/doom-influenced side that plays a key role in the sound’s development.
On the other hand but in a similar manner, the track “Gates of War” that follows,
shows a band influenced by U.S heavy metal and expands that sound further to thrashier and grittier territories,
showing the thrash-influenced side of the band.
Hellpass' sound though seemingly straightforward, is not one-dimensional or uninspired.
The band traces its roots to the classic heavy metal sound of different scenes and bands,
from Cirith Ungol to folkish Viking metal tunes.
As for their lyrical and conceptual part, the Hellpass are inspired by the worldwide crisis and events of these past years,
the “Gates of War” expresses through sheer heavy metal force and power the hardships and difficulties of recent times.
Back to the musical aspect, in the song “Light in the Dark”, Hellpass shows an epic and heavy side, with N.W.O.B.H.M influences,
with folk and pagan undertones that add a beautiful aesthetic to the track and enrich its melodic lines.
The “Gates of War” closes with the song “Burning Flags”. While the record comes full circle and ends similarly as it began,
the introduction of the acoustic parts adds a mellow melodic feeling through their melodic lines.
Honestly, I don’t think I have much more left to say about the “Gates of War.
Greece has been a notable export of heavy and power metal bands throughout the years,
and Hellpass seems to be one more band capable of great things, arising from the Greek metal scene.
While the only newly founded band, the Hellpass unleashes a solid sound that although not fully formed,
delivers a very exciting and fresh sounding product. So, without any doubt, I would highly suggest giving it a shot.

Sebia - Acceptance Of Reality
Release date: June 9, 2023
Self release

Review by: Angels PR

Sebia's debut album, "Acceptance Of Reality," consists of 8 tracks,
adorned with meticulously crafted artwork that captivates the eye with its intriguing design.
The album's title provokes deep contemplation about the nature of reality itself.
As the music unfolds, Sebia weaves a tapestry of emotions that envelops
the listener with warmth and strength.
Despite being a debut album, "Acceptance Of Reality" showcases a level of maturity and skill
that is reminiscent of more established bands with extensive discographies Sebia take the
scene by storm, introducing their sound in the best way possible,
with a captivating and exciting record.
Why should they restrain themselves in the narrow limits of a genre,
when they have the musicianship to cross genres smoothly and easily? They shouldn’t, and they don’t.
Sebia presents a rich and diverse musical tapestry, filled with different influences drawn from different
musical genres that would never overlap otherwise.
Opening with the song “Lockdown”, Sebia introduces the audience to a pretty
straightforward hard rock sound, groovy and punchy, with some heavy rock ideas that drip to the
following song “Get out of Your Heads”, which presents a heavy rock sound, with a bluesy touch
and a subtle heavy metal undertone.
This pattern breaks soon enough, in the third and fourth tracks, entitled “Shipwreck” and “Beyond This World”.
Sebia abandon their heavy/hard rock intro and lean towards a more progressive rock-oriented sound,
that resembles bands like the Porcupine Tree and even has some seemingly Opeth-inspired riffs from their
“Damnation” era and songs like the “Windowpane” and “Burden”. In a similar motif is built the beautiful
“Ship Lost Through The Mist”, which steals the impressions thanks to its emotional and melancholic first half,
before it transcends to a sharp-edged, and exciting heavy metal song with epic sounding outro.
The “Acceptance of Reality”, as you can understand, is quite diverse. Sebia produces an incredible album,
inspired and inspiring, filled with fresh and exciting ideas, leaving the best first impressions.

Vass/Katsionis - Cynical Silence
Release date: April 7, 2023
Symmetric Records

Review by: Angels PR

Their debut work, “Ethical Dilemma” was a release that faithfully paid homage to the ‘90s progressive metal sound,
with the influences being subtle but clear and visible throughout the record.
Vass/Katsionis return in less than a year with their sophomore work, “Cynical Silence”,
an album that continues from where the “Ethical Dilemma” left off, while at the same time,
it shows a band that is ready to move forward and produce its own, distinct sound.
The most notable difference between the two releases is that in “Cynical Silence,
” the sound aligns more with the current standards and trends of the progressive metal scene.
Bands like The Pain of Salvation and Leprous seem to slightly overpower the ‘90s
progressive ideas that of course are not absent and still play an important role.
Before we continue with the album’s musical aspect,
I would like to write a few words about the beautiful artwork of “Cynical Silence”.
The band imported the entire album’s lyrical content into the OpenGPT chatbot,
which provided them with the proper prompt to use on Midjourney.
The image produced by AI technology was used as the cover of “Cynical Silence”,
a result that is meant to resemble 100% the lyrical and musical concept of the record.
Now, putting aside the creative decision to use Midjourney like this,
the artwork is the exact and literal visualization of the album’s lyrical content,
which makes everything even more intriguing.
The “Cynical Silence” is based on heavy progressive metal ideas with distinct grooves
and complex rhythmic patterns that are inspired and to the point, without being pretentious.
The song “The End of Innocence” is, in my opinion,
the perfect example and the perfect musical representation of the band’s sound.
With its modern cut sound and its Fates Warning influences,
the album’s opening track showcases both their new modern focused turn,
while at the same time remaining true to the ‘90s influences.
Also, around the 3rd minute, the song shows a more Dream Theater-influenced profile.
In the “Cynical Silence,” the power metal is, also, present,
and sometimes more discretely as a bright undertone, while others,
like in the song “Vengeance Is Mine”, take the foreground with Europower
ideas and melodic lines that brighten up the overall atmosphere of the album.
It would be inappropriate to close and end this review without mentioning the stunning
and captivating vocal performance of Billy Vass, which is particularly chilling in the ballad
“A Day Without Loss”, one of the most emotional and powerful songs of the album.

Disillusive Play - Songs For The Non-Existent
Release date: 2023
Wormholedeath Records

Review by: Angels PR

Disillusive Play has done marvelous work, releasing a work that incorporates plenty of different ideas,
and yet it has an absolutely solid body. While the album cannot be confined to a single genre,
it maintains a sense of cohesion throughout.
Disillusive Play's sophomore album, titled "Songs For The Non-Existent,"
is an intriguing and remarkable release that left me pleasantly surprised.
As a first-time listener of the band, I had no expectations regarding their music and sound.
However, within minutes of diving into the album, I found myself captivated by its unique blend of genres and influences.
The band effortlessly transitions from hard rock to progressive and even power metal-inspired territories.
This ability to explore a wide range of ideas and genres is what makes "Songs For The Non-Existent" such a compelling and enjoyable release.
The album encompasses everything from hard rock to progressive and symphonic elements.
Tracks like "Parallel Lives" and "Sisyphus” showcase the band's love for the fusion of progressive and power metal,
characterized by powerful choruses, melodic keys, and fast-paced, heavy riffs.
A notable highlight is the outstanding vocal duet on "Parallel Lives," featuring the singer of The Silent Wedding.
Conversely, tracks like "Queen of The Night" embody the exciting, fun hard rock essence that the Disillusive Play strives for.
With subtle Europower undertones adding to the energetic atmosphere, "Queen of The Night" stands out with its infectious,
jaw-dropping funk-inspired bass line by Panagiotis Bourazanis and its uplifting chorus perfect for live performances.
Now, while I think that many of you will fall in love with some of the aforementioned, the one that stood out for me and I have to dedicate a few lines to it,
is the “Love or Fear” song. Honestly, the chilling and captivating vocal performance would suffice to make this one of the best songs on the record.
The Disillusive Play presents a great power ballad, bluesy yet heavy and powerful, with ‘80s blues/rock guitar undertones.
In conclusion, "Songs For The Non-Existent" is an impeccable release that showcases Disillusive Play's exceptional musicianship,
exciting melodies, and diverse ideas. This album is a must-listen, as it presents a variety of captivating tracks that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Shadow Of Nyx - Melodis
Release date: February, 2023
Self release

Review by: Angels PR

First impressions matter and there is no one denying it.
Shadow of Nyx introduces their sound and their artistic vision excellently,
which both show the band’s musicianship and ability to produce a sound fresh and exciting.
Along with Bob Katsionis as producer, the Shadow of Nyx combine their talent and musicianship
with a crystal clear and powerful production, offering a complete and spotless work.
The “Melodies” remains within the frame of symphonic/power metal,
yet they found a way to develop and add new elements and ideas that beautifully enrich the sound.
They unleash well-constructed ideas that keep the listener’s attention and interest until the very last minute of the EP.
In just 5 songs, the Shadow of Nyx presents a work multilayered and sophisticated.
The general outline is composed of fast-paced riffs influenced by European power metal,
bright and grand choruses, and exciting drum work that is not only fast and technical,
but musical as well, playing a key role in the shaping of the power metal sound.
The Shadow of Nyx, apart from the distinct and essential genre-defining sharp, high-end riffs,
the Shadow of Nyx enrich their compositions with orchestral parts, harmonized lead guitar lines,
neo-classical ideas, and even some folk-inspired passages that add an even brighter tone to the compositions.
Still, we can’t be mentioning the qualities of “Melodies” and leave the incredible vocal performance unmentioned
that simply sends shivers down the spine and is captivating in every song,
If you are looking for a taste of the album, I would recommend listening to the song “Waiting, Breathing, Feeling”.
Distinctly melodic and with a melancholic undertone, this particular song is memorable not only for its vibrant
Europower sound but for its incredible piano solo that comes as a surprise and steals the show.
Also, the track “Conjure” stands out with its marching feel and beautiful melodic lines that shine in the spotlight,
thanks to the song’s instrumental style.

Immortalizer - Born For Metal
Release date: January 13, 2023
Self release

Review by: Angels PR

Dave D.R. is a multi-instrumentalist recording artist and performer from Ontario Canada. Inspired by bands like the Saxon,
Primal Fear, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Motorhead and Gamma Ray,
Dave formed the heavy metal project Immortalizer and recently released his full-length album, entitled “Born For Metal”.
His musical background has been very influential to the sound of his first work, and Dave does not stray from this path of the classic heavy metal sound.
Keeping the sound as original as possible considering the ‘80s have long passed, Immortalizer is a fresh breath of old-school heavy metal.
Immortalizer unleashes sharpened, distorted riffs, fast-paced, exciting and with a distinct ‘80s vibe that pay honest homage to his influences,
while at the same time reveal Dave’s creativity and vision for this project.
The sound of “Born For Metal” might have a vintage aura and a particular old-school undertone that cannot be dismissed,
but none can say that is a record stuck in the past that refuses to go forward. After all,
goal of this project is to create new and exciting music, entertaining and original, that has still a vintage feel to it.
With “Born For Metal”, Immortalizer has achieved each and every one of the aforementioned goals.
The album begins with the track “Out in the Streets” and introduces the audience to the sound of “Born For Metal”.
The love for the ‘80s metal scene and the classic heavy metal sound becomes instantly clear in this powerful and explosive track.
Second is the song, “Cut Loose”, which is one of my favorite tracks of the record. With a distinct Black Sabbath inspired intro from their Dio era,
the Immortalizer introduces the epic element in its sound and presents a song that combines melody and sheer heavy metal power.
By the end of the second track, Immortalizer has already laid the album’s foundation and has made clear that this is a pure, undiluted,
classic heavy metal work, through and through.
Before I close this review, I would like to mention one more song that really shines through in the record and should not go unmentioned.
The song “We Were Born For Metal”, not only is an exciting, heavy/speed metal track full of explosive energy and gritty attitude, but, also,
features the incredible voice of Ralf Scheepers, singer of the Primal Fear, who offers a unique and absolutely memorable performance, in an already memorable record.
